Arizona State University (ASU) is a public research university with several campuses in Arizona plus affiliated study sites in Los Angeles, Washington, and Hawaii. ASU offers more than 400 bachelor's degree programs and about 450 Master's degrees in the USA.

Founded in 1885 as an Arizona Traditional School, ASU is currently one of the largest universities in the United States in terms of student enrollment. What advice do you have for potential applicants before applying to US universities?

Choose a university that really suits you - do not try to "adjust" yourself to a prestigious or ranked university. If you are not sure of your capabilities, do not dwell on the first top 10: believe me, many opportunities of less prestigious universities will be able to give you what you need to develop and become a specialist.

The teaching and administrative staff provide students with comprehensive support – from the moment they apply for admission to employment after completing their studies. From additional subject classes, individual career counseling to psychological support, adapting the curriculum to the abilities and needs of the student, any help is available to students of all directions.

One of the distinctive features of the university is the presence of more than 300 bachelor's and master's programs available for online study. With the help of an electronic portal, Personal Account and video communication programs, students receive a full range of professional knowledge, academic support and learning resources.

ASU has four campuses in Arizona, which are home to more than ten specialized colleges, as well as academic territories in California and Washington. When choosing a specialization, students can choose from one to several residences.

While studying in downtown Phoenix, students are accommodated in Gordon Commons, which provides double rooms with a bathroom. The residential complex has student and conference rooms, laundry facilities, a private terrace and a shaded 4,000 square foot garden. The Gordon Commons Residential Restaurant, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Panda Express restaurants are open here for residents.

The Polytechnic campus offers students two residences:

• Opened in the fall of 2020, Lantana Hall is a modern residential complex for students of all courses and specializations. The building includes a large amount of common space, including multipurpose and conference rooms, administrative offices, and classrooms. Students are accommodated in double suites or two-room apartments with bedrooms for two students. The bathrooms are shared by two students, respectively, in a two-room apartment there are two,
• Century Hall consists of two buildings interconnected by a single-storey common area with a lobby, an information office, a kitchen for residents, two multipurpose rooms, and a classroom for group classes. There is a laundry room on each floor. Students are accommodated in double bedrooms combined with one bathroom.

Pupils of the Tempe training area have the widest choice of residences — 10 residential complexes provide various types of rooms: apartments, suites, single and double standard rooms. The more comfortable a room is, the more additional services it includes, for example, a private bathroom, an equipped kitchen, and a living room. Bathrooms are mostly shared by two or four residents, and public kitchens are located on the lower floors of the buildings. There are laundry rooms, study and conference rooms, recreation rooms and many other facilities in the common area.

The West Valley Campus provides two residential complexes with deluxe double rooms, each with a bathroom and a kitchenette. Students have common access to living rooms, games and study halls, laundries, and a large kitchen with all necessary appliances.

When choosing a program in California, students are accommodated in Broadway Palace, a luxury apartment building in the heart of Los Angeles with a unique design. Students will have access to a number of facilities: fitness centers, indoor basketball and volleyball courts, a 24-hour modern gym and sauna with free yoga classes, and a rooftop pool. Single rooms with private bathrooms, a kitchen shared by several students, a seating area, and a balcony have been prepared for accommodation.

There are dining halls and cafeterias on each campus offering not only a variety of menus, but also meal plans. For convenience, students can choose the most suitable plan for them by paying in advance for a certain number of meals for a week or semester. Meal plans are available at all ASU restaurants and include additional services such as points for discounts on snacks and the opportunity to exchange them for purchases at university stores.

Each academic direction offers students a wide variety of extracurricular activities, each focused on developing strengths, talents, and abilities. Themed clubs occupy an important place in student life, offering students the development of hobby skills and the support of interests in groups of like-minded people. There are more than 800 communities on campuses: from cultural, religious, political to creative, volunteer, scientific. Musical and theatrical groups, members of fine arts clubs often take part in university events: concerts, productions, festive events, exhibitions. Part of the campus events involves inviting specialists from various partner organizations and guests, which gives students the opportunity to show their talent to a wider audience.

ASU has four academic sites in the State of Arizona:

Downtown Phoenix

Located in the Arizona capital, the ASU campus provides a variety of academic and professional facilities for students preparing for careers in various fields of healthcare, law, public administration and other public services, arts and sciences, journalism, and media. The studying is conducted in modern classrooms and research centers located in several buildings, including the historic U.S. Post Office building and modern landmarks such as the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Arizona Center for Law and Society. Students have access to first-class fitness centers, performing arts and cultural studios.

Polytechnic campus

The studying area serves as a link for research in the fields of engineering, management, technology, and education. The specialized equipment of the buildings includes flight simulators, centers for consumer behavior research, semiconductor manufacturing, integrated commercial printing and design services, and digital production. The Polytechnic Institute's extensive campus includes a large regional airport, but at the same time retains the atmosphere of a small, intimate community, offering residences, dining halls, and a student recreation center.

Tempe

The historic ASU Tempe campus offers hundreds of majors that involve students in interdisciplinary research in first-class laboratories and other specialized facilities. The infrastructure includes wide pedestrian alleys located among a subtropical landscape, the oldest original main building, the Sun Devil Stadium and other sports grounds.

West Valley

The West Valley campus combines liberal arts education with preparation for career advancement. Located in northwest Phoenix, the learning Area serves as a home for students enrolled in programs in healthcare, business, education, interdisciplinary arts, and science. Specialized facilities are equipped for each specialty: lecture halls, laboratories, studios, workshops and much more.

The university's academic activities extend to several campuses located in Los Angeles, Washington, and Hawaii.

• The California Center is considered home to academic programs in fashion and design, film, nursing, global management, journalism, law, business, and executive education. With close proximity and study integrated with industry partners throughout Los Angeles, allowing students to work alongside professionals,
• ASU in Washington, D.C. is a critical hub providing unique learning, teaching, and research opportunities through state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, and studios.,
• The Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science, located in Hawaii, directs scientific and technological research on climate change. The facility houses computing and chemical laboratories, offices, conference rooms, and field research facilities.

The ASU academic calendar includes three semesters: spring, summer, and fall, with seasonal sessions in between. The academic year covers almost the entire calendar year, starting at the end of August and ending in the middle of the following summer. Campuses are open most days of the year, with the exception of national and international holidays and vacations. Rest for students is provided on weekends: Saturdays and Sundays, attendance at academic and extracurricular activities is organized on weekdays.

Most of the stages of admission are available in an online format, which makes the process easier for international applicants. Candidates will have to:

• Fill out the online application form, provide the required documents,
• Pay the registration fee,
• Pass an interview, possible entrance tests,
• Receive an official invitation to enroll,
• Make deposits to book accommodation, place on the course,
• Arrive on campus to check into the residence, attend orientation events, start your studies.

The admissions staff provides comprehensive support to each applicant, helping in obtaining a long-term visa and at other stages of admission.

As of August 2022, ASU had 140,759 enrolled students (both in-person and online), a 4% increase from 2021. Of this total, about 79,000 applicants were enrolled full-time at one of the university's campuses, a 3.2% increase from 2021. According to U.S. News & World Report, in the 2022-2023 academic year, ASU accepted 88% of first-year applicants.

Every year, the number of graduates reaches more than 33,700 - these are new specialists in various fields who are employed in their specialization or continue their academic path within six months after completing their studies.

Foreign applicants who enroll in higher education programs must provide:

• A package of personal documents, including a valid passport, medical insurance, visa or residence permit,
• A certificate of full secondary education with a report card, a preparatory course certificate / Bachelor's Degree in a related field with an official transcript,
• Language test results: TOEFL iBT (from 61), IELTS (from 6.0), PTE Academic (from 53) or a recognized equivalent,
• Letters of recommendation from teachers from previous places of study, Individual achievements (if any).

The documents must be translated into English, and some will require certification.

Most international students are not eligible for federal and state financial aid, but ASU offers its own aid options to fund their studies.

• The New American University ASU Merit-Based Scholarship is awarded to a limited number of qualified international undergraduate students who demonstrate high academic achievement,
• Scholarships of colleges, specialized schools – academic departments that are part of the university award awards to students who show distinctive abilities in the study of specialized subjects,
• Private scholarships may be available to students regardless of their immigration status.
