What advice do you have for potential applicants before applying to US universities?

Choose a university that really suits you - do not try to "adjust" yourself to a prestigious or ranked university. If you are not sure of your capabilities, do not dwell on the first top 10: believe me, many opportunities of less prestigious universities will be able to give you what you need to develop and become a specialist.

Educational process

The teaching and administrative staff provide students with comprehensive support – from the moment they apply for admission to employment after completing their studies. From additional subject classes, individual career counseling to psychological support, adapting the curriculum to the abilities and needs of the student, any help is available to students of all directions.

One of the distinctive features of the university is the presence of more than 300 bachelor's and master's programs available for online study. With the help of an electronic portal, Personal Account and video communication programs, students receive a full range of professional knowledge, academic support and learning resources.

Faculties and colleges

ASU has more than ten specialized colleges and schools offering training in a number of areas, including:

  • Business
  • Design, art,
  • Engineering
  • A global future,
  • Global Management,
  • Interdisciplinary Arts, Sciences,
  • Journalism, mass communications,
  • Public Service, Public Decisions,
  • Pedagogy, Education,
  • Jurisprudence.

Scientific achievements

ASU has dozens of research centers focused on innovation, improving the quality of life of the international community, and environmental sustainability. To date, the research staff of the centers are engaged in the following projects:

  • The university is leading the Southwest Sustainability Innovation Engine, an NSF-funded initiative that will focus on ways to address the climate challenges facing the desert Southwest and spur the region's economic development.
  • The ASU-led Southwest Advanced Prototyping Center aims to protect national security by accelerating the production of key semiconductor technologies and training the necessary workforce,
  • Building on the achievements of the Sanford Harmony program, the new T. Denny Sanford Institute for Harmony will facilitate the development of new solutions, expand effective programs that support children's relationships and well-being.
  • ASU's solar program provides an equivalent solar generation capacity of 55 MW DC, which has contributed to the university's goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2020, with zero greenhouse gas emissions from campus operations.

Accommodation, meals, prices

ASU has four campuses in Arizona, which are home to more than ten specialized colleges, as well as academic territories in California and Washington. When choosing a specialization, students can choose from one to several residences.

While studying in downtown Phoenix, students are accommodated in Gordon Commons, which provides double rooms with a bathroom. The residential complex has student and conference rooms, laundry facilities, a private terrace and a shaded 4,000 square foot garden. The Gordon Commons Residential Restaurant, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Panda Express restaurants are open here for residents.

The Polytechnic campus offers students two residences:

  • Opened in the fall of 2020, Lantana Hall is a modern residential complex for students of all courses and specializations. The building includes a large amount of common space, including multipurpose and conference rooms, administrative offices, and classrooms. Students are accommodated in double suites or two-room apartments with bedrooms for two students. The bathrooms are shared by two students, respectively, in a two-room apartment there are two,
  • Century Hall consists of two buildings interconnected by a single-storey common area with a lobby, an information office, a kitchen for residents, two multipurpose rooms, and a classroom for group classes. There is a laundry room on each floor. Students are accommodated in double bedrooms combined with one bathroom.

Pupils of the Tempe training area have the widest choice of residences — 10 residential complexes provide various types of rooms: apartments, suites, single and double standard rooms. The more comfortable a room is, the more additional services it includes, for example, a private bathroom, an equipped kitchen, and a living room. Bathrooms are mostly shared by two or four residents, and public kitchens are located on the lower floors of the buildings. There are laundry rooms, study and conference rooms, recreation rooms and many other facilities in the common area.

The West Valley Campus provides two residential complexes with deluxe double rooms, each with a bathroom and a kitchenette. Students have common access to living rooms, games and study halls, laundries, and a large kitchen with all necessary appliances.

When choosing a program in California, students are accommodated in Broadway Palace, a luxury apartment building in the heart of Los Angeles with a unique design. Students will have access to a number of facilities: fitness centers, indoor basketball and volleyball courts, a 24-hour modern gym and sauna with free yoga classes, and a rooftop pool. Single rooms with private bathrooms, a kitchen shared by several students, a seating area, and a balcony have been prepared for accommodation.

There are dining halls and cafeterias on each campus offering not only a variety of menus, but also meal plans. For convenience, students can choose the most suitable plan for them by paying in advance for a certain number of meals for a week or semester. Meal plans are available at all ASU restaurants and include additional services such as points for discounts on snacks and the opportunity to exchange them for purchases at university stores.

Review about Arizona State University (ASU)

Mari
(27.04.2022)
I'm already in my second year at ASU. The very first thing that surprised me about the university was the size of the campus. I knew American universities weren't small, but the Arizona State campus is really huge. It was hard to get used to and find my way around at first. The university is very well equipped, especially the gym and the library. There's a handy app for uni students where you can set reminders and see schedule changes. The design faculty I'm in now is great in every way. Absolutely all the professors are cool and know how to get the material across. I've never once regretted choosing this university.

I enrolled here for the first year of my Master's after Pace in New York. Honestly, I never thought I'd move from New York to Arizona, but with the exchange rate, affording two years of grad school in NY with its housing prices was getting tough. ASU was one of the few options with strong linguistics and for a decent price. What I liked was how fast the whole enrollment process was. They reviewed my application within two weeks, and they usually answered my questions within a day or two. I especially want to mention the accommodation. Everything is new and clean. In big cities, you often have issues with that, but here it's all good quality. I can recommend it to those who are okay with living in a small, quiet city.

My opinion is that this is one of the best American universities offering fully online programs! We struggled for a long time to find a decent, proper international online Bachelor's degree. Our son is an athlete and can't physically study full-time on campus because of his competitions. We were looking for an online Bachelor's in Management, considered options in Europe, but the cost and quality didn't work for us. We contacted Smart Products and Services for help finding options. I want to thank the company for the detailed curriculum analysis they did for us! They laid out the whole program's curriculum for us in detail, which is what really helped us make the final choice. I should say right away that even though the program is fully online and the schedule is pretty flexible, you have to work hard. At first, it was very tough for our son because he had to do a large amount of assignments on the platform, plus catch up on material he missed due to competitions. Over time, he got into the swing of it, but you really do have to study.

We first found out about this university when we came for a consultation at the Smart Products and Services agency. Our son was finishing 10th grade and dreamed of going to university in the States. At first, the idea seemed really hard to pull off. The kid had never studied abroad or even been to camps, so we had serious doubts about his English level, even though he'd been studying with a tutor since he was 10 and was preparing for the IELTS. The agency suggested an English test, which our son passed at a B1 level. We also did extra IELTS prep with a tutor recommended by Smart Products and Services. In the end, he scored 7.5 on the IELTS, which meant he could enter the first year directly without a foundation program. But we decided to play it safe and take a prep year, and it was the right call. As for the academic program, there weren't any major issues because he had prepared with a tutor, but he did have some trouble adapting and socializing with peers. Many of the kids from his prep program ended up in the same faculty, which made things easier for him socially. Regarding his studies, I can only go by what he tells me since I don't have direct access to his grades. There haven't been any major problems. He said two of his classmates were expelled after the first exams, but he got through the first session pretty easily. Maybe the prep helped.
