English Language Course

The language course, which focuses on the effective preparation and adaptation of international students, offers five eight-week summer sessions. Classes are conducted in face-to-face and online formats under the guidance of university teachers. Boise State University (BSU) is a research university offering more than 200 US higher education programs at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.

The history of BSU began in 1932 thanks to the Episcopal Church, which put forward the idea of opening a higher education institution. It became the third state university in Idaho in 1969, and today is one of the largest in the state. More than 27,000 local and international students study at BSU, the number of teachers exceeds 1,400 qualified specialists, and the number of graduates is about 100,000 successful businessmen, politicians, artists and scientists.

The University pays special attention not only to the preparation of future specialists in various fields, but also to scientific research that affects the life of the international community. Highly qualified and experienced scientists, as well as students of all courses and disciplines, take an active part in them. In addition to diligent study and participation in research, students will receive comprehensive support in developing their talents and interests through campus events: sports competitions, creative contests, environmental and charitable activities.

Students of master's and doctoral programs live in one-, two-, and four-bed apartments and townhouses, occupying individual bedrooms; bathroom, kitchen, and living room are shared by residents of the same room.

Students living on campus can arrange a meal plan that suits them, including several meals a week, and additional dollars for purchases at campus stores. Meal plans can be used at any university institution.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Foreign applicants must have a passport, medical insurance, financial certificates and a visa/residence permit to study in the United States. The criteria for admission to higher education programs at BSU vary depending on the academic level, but the following will be common:

  • Personal documents,
  • Academic certificates, official transcripts from previous places of study,
  • The results of one of the language tests: IELTS (from 6.0), TOEFL iBT (from 68), Duolingo (from 100) or the equivalent recognized by the university.
