Boise State University (BSU) is a research university offering more than 200 US higher education programs at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.

The history of BSU began in 1932 thanks to the Episcopal Church, which put forward the idea of opening a higher education institution. It became the third state university in Idaho in 1969, and today is one of the largest in the state. More than 27,000 local and international students study at BSU, the number of teachers exceeds 1,400 qualified specialists, and the number of graduates is about 100,000 successful businessmen, politicians, artists and scientists.

The University pays special attention not only to the preparation of future specialists in various fields, but also to scientific research that affects the life of the international community. Highly qualified and experienced scientists, as well as students of all courses and disciplines, take an active part in them. In addition to diligent study and participation in research, students will receive comprehensive support in developing their talents and interests through campus events: sports competitions, creative contests, environmental and charitable activities.

Boise State Uni has several specialized colleges and schools, on the basis of which programs are taught in the following specialties:

BSU cooperates with local and foreign organizations, jointly conducting research that is important for the international community: research institutes at the university annually work on improvements, discoveries and technology development in areas such as artificial intelligence, conservation of nature and its resources, medical services and health.

First-year students are accommodated in nine residential communities, which include several buildings each: they have mostly single and double rooms with fully furnished, access to shared bathrooms, kitchens, laundries and recreation areas. Students of master's and doctoral programs live in one-, two-, and four-bed apartments and townhouses, occupying individual bedrooms; bathroom, kitchen, and living room are shared by residents of the same room.

Students living on campus can arrange a meal plan that suits them, including several meals a week, and additional dollars for purchases at campus stores. Meal plans can be used at any university institution.

Throughout the year, more than 200 themed communities, 24 women's and men's housing societies, training sessions and competitions in more than 35 sports areas are organized on the BSU campus. The list of thematic communities that bring together students with common interests includes:

• The Metropolitan campus is located on the banks of the Boise River, just a short walk from the center of Idaho's largest city. The campus is equipped with modern research laboratories, living quarters, cafes, and a new high-tech building to house works of fine art.

• Public computers are located on most campuses, where students attend classes and get together, and provide access to a wide range of software on Windows and Mac computers.

The academic calendar consists of two semesters:

During the summer months, some students take classes, improve their academic performance, and complete a session. Classes throughout the year take place on weekdays, and recreation is organized on weekends, holidays, and seasonal vacations.

The Admissions Committee assists applicants at every stage of admission. Applicants are required to fill out the registration form, pay the application fee and provide the required documents, and then pass the interview and entrance tests (upon request). Based on the results of the last stage, the university staff makes a decision on admission, sends an official invitation to study and expects first-year students on campus by the beginning of the semester.

To date, the number of BSU graduates exceeds 100,000 qualified professionals who have built careers in the United States and abroad. Among them are prominent politicians, scientists, businessmen and figures in other fields, for example:

Foreign applicants must have a passport, medical insurance, financial certificates and a visa/residence permit to study in the United States. The criteria for admission to higher education programs at BSU vary depending on the academic level, but the following will be common:

• The results of one of the language tests: IELTS (from 6.0), TOEFL iBT (from 68), Duolingo (from 100) or the equivalent recognized by the university.
• Some programs will require letters of recommendation, a portfolio, or passing entrance tests.

BSU offers a variety of scholarships for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students to help cover tuition costs — depending on academic merit, the scholarship ranges from $5,000 to $17,000 per year.
