Review about University of Glasgow

Varakov A.
(28.04.2022)
I've been studying here for three years now. Initially, I chose the university based on tuition fees and the subsequent cost of living, etc. In that respect, Glasgow is a really good option. It's a big city, there's always somewhere to go, and at the same time, prices are very reasonable compared to other large cities. The course is interesting, lots of practical work, and there are good internship opportunities in my field. The careers department at the uni works really well. They quickly help find internships in your specialty and regularly send out mailings specifically for your profession. I've already managed to go through several interviews. By the way, the interview prep tips they gave me were very helpful.

I want to share my experience with both online and in-person learning at this university. I started with distance learning from my first year, so it was pretty hard to get used to the format and figure out a routine, as I was originally expecting a different experience. Things weren't always great. Some professors were late to online lectures due to internet issues and stuff. From the second year, we switched to full-time in-person learning, and oh, how glad I am! Listening to lecturers in a classroom is so much more interesting. I've got the motivation to study, and if questions come up, it's easy to just ask the teacher during a seminar or go up to them after a lecture. I'm a second-year Computer Science student.

I graduated from this university in 2019. I have very, very positive memories of studying here and of my professors. I especially want to highlight the student support and careers department 鈥 thanks to them, I got my first internship and, later, a job. I had no issues with the professors whatsoever. I particularly enjoyed working with my supervisor. We had similar research interests, so he was very involved in my dissertation work and gave recommendations that really helped. As for the city itself, it's definitely not for everyone, but it certainly has its own charm. The cost of living and food is lower than in other parts of the UK.
