The kindergarten program is built on modern and innovative educational approaches. Taking into account the characteristics of preschool age, teachers create a flexible learning environment that changes and evolves depending on the interests and experiences of children in each group. The main idea is to support natural curiosity, to help children independently explore the world and discover knowledge. What matters is not only the learning process itself, but also the development of thinking, skills, and attitudes that shape active learners today and independent, engaged individuals in the future.

A special place is given to creativity: through various activities, young children learn to express thoughts and emotions, build relationships, create their own works, play, and interact with one another. Great attention is paid to contact with nature: children explore the surrounding environment, experiment with natural materials, and along the way become acquainted with various artistic techniques. The main goals here are the development of independence, socialization, and creative self-expression. Children try new things, experiment, learn to communicate and discuss ideas in a comfortable atmosphere.

At the center of the program is emotional well-being. An atmosphere is maintained in which kindergarteners feel confident, learn to understand and express emotions, develop independence and a positive attitude toward themselves. This helps foster critical thinking, intrinsic motivation, and the ability to build healthy relationships with others. Parents play an important role in this process: interaction with teachers is built on trust, openness, and cooperation.

Kindergarten education becomes part of the broader Moraitis School environment, helping children adapt more easily to further schooling and form long-term connections.  Introduction to the English language occurs through play and creativity: songs, movement, group activities, and stories help children acquire their first words and use the language confidently in communication. Through special days dedicated to English, art, and nature, the language is reinforced through hands-on experience and creativity in a bilingual environment.

The program is supplemented with music and theater classes, environmental workshops, excursions, meetings with children's book authors, and parental involvement in the educational process.

The kindergarten has a psychologist and 2 speech development specialists who are integrated into the children's daily life and support their development. Groups of up to 17 children; the space is equipped with modern materials: an interactive whiteboard, educational games, themed activity zones, a lightbox, and other tools.

Operating hours: 8:30 to 14:30. Arrival — from 8:30 to 9:00, departure — from 14:00 to 14:30. During the day, children have breakfast and lunch: breakfast is usually prepared at home, while lunch can be ordered additionally.

Δημοτικό

  • Students' age — 6–12 years,
  • Duration of study — 6 years.

The curriculum meets the requirements of the Greek Ministry of Education, but is supplemented by extended modules that make learning more diverse and in-depth. The foundation consists of key subjects:

  • Greek language and literature,
  • mathematics,
  • natural sciences,
  • history and social studies.

One important focus is in-depth study of English from the early grades, with some classes conducted in this language. Examples of such subjects:

  • environmental studies,
  • drama / theatre arts,
  • ICT,
  • art (in some classes).

The curriculum includes music, theatre, traditional Greek dances and literature — both Greek and foreign. Great attention is paid to cultural and aesthetic development, so that students not only gain knowledge but also develop taste, imagination and an interest in the arts.

  • Student age — 12–15 years,
  • Duration of study — 3 years.

The program includes 3 grades. This stage serves as a transition from primary school to a more advanced level of education that lies ahead, including the DP program.

The goal of education is not only to cover the curriculum, but also to build a strong academic foundation. Students learn to analyze information, work with various sources, think critically and solve problems independently, gradually adapting to a more structured and demanding format of learning.

Lessons are structured so that theory is immediately reinforced by practice. In the natural sciences — physics, chemistry, and biology — laboratory work plays an important role: it takes place in small groups, which helps students better understand experiments and develop observation and analysis skills.

Humanities subjects (Greek language, literature, and history) are studied in depth. The main focus is on understanding texts, their interpretation, and the ability to argue one's point of view, rather than simple memorization.

Foreign languages occupy an important place in the program: instruction is systematically structured and may include preparation for international exams, which helps students gradually reach a more global level of education.

In addition to lessons, students participate in extracurricular activities: these may include debates, science clubs, theater, sports, or environmental projects. Such activities help develop communication, creativity, and teamwork skills.

Assessment is conducted regularly, with ongoing knowledge checks and final exams. At the end of the final year, students sit exams in the core subjects: Greek language, mathematics, and natural sciences.

Pre-International-Diploma / Α΄ Λυκείου

  • Student age — 15–16 years,
  • Duration of study — one year.

The A’ Lyceum program is the first year of study in senior school and an important transition from Middle School to the next stage: either preparation for Greek state exams or the international diploma program.

During this period, the coursework becomes even more intensive and in-depth. Students begin to define their future educational trajectory, and the year itself is viewed as preparation for a more demanding workload in subsequent grades or for the transition to the DP. Assignments become more challenging: greater emphasis is placed on analysis, working with theory, academic writing, and research skills, with increased demands on logical thinking, argumentation, and the ability to work with information.

A particular emphasis is placed on the English language. Instruction takes place at a high level, and by the end of the year many students reach B2, C1, and even C2 levels. This is especially important for those who plan to continue studying in the DP program, where English will be the primary language.

Science subjects — mathematics, physics, and chemistry — reach a more advanced level, gradually approaching a university format. Humanities subjects, such as history, literature, and social studies, are studied with an emphasis on analysis, interpretation, and critical thinking.

Academic counseling and guidance in determining the next path play an important role.

Diploma Programme

  • Student age — 16–19 years,
  • Duration of study — 2 years.

Diploma Programme is a two-year international programme, one of the most challenging stages of study at Moraitis School. It is designed for senior students and prepares them for admission to universities around the world.

The entire programme is taught in English, so a confident level of language proficiency is required. At the same time, the programme focuses not only on "dry" knowledge, but also on the development of thinking: students learn to analyse, research, work with large volumes of information, and act independently.

The academic structure includes 6 subject groups. Future graduates choose disciplines based on their interests and plans for the future: typically these are languages and literature, social and natural sciences, mathematics, and the arts. Some subjects are studied at an advanced level (Higher Level), others at the standard level, which allows for an individualised programme to be built.

The core of the academic programme includes:

  • Theory of Knowledge — a course on how knowledge is formed and how to evaluate it critically,
  • Extended Essay — an independent piece of research with elements of academic work,
  • CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) — a programme that combines creativity, sport, and social projects.

In the senior years, the main focus is on university preparation: students develop academic writing skills, learn to conduct research, and adapt to an international educational environment.

The Diploma Programme is considered the final and most advanced stage of school education: graduates receive a diploma that is recognised by universities in Europe, the United Kingdom, the USA, and other countries, and provides the opportunity to gain admission to leading universities worldwide.

Description of Moraitis School, Moraitis Private School

  • Location: Psychiko, Athens, Greece,
  • Year founded: 1936,
  • Language of instruction: English,
  • Type of education: mixed.

Moraitis School — a private general education institution. It accepts children from three years old: from kindergarten to high school. Students can follow the national Greek curriculum and international ones, including the International Diploma program.

It is one of the largest private centers in Athens: 1,700 students study here (in kindergarten, primary, middle, and high schools), with 240 teachers on staff. It is part of Inspired Education Group.

Educational process

At Moraitis School, the emphasis is not on memorizing facts, but on seeking knowledge and understanding ideas. Children here learn to analyze information, ask questions, and connect knowledge from different subjects. Topics in class are explored through the lens of real-life situations and personal experience — this helps students better understand both local and global context.

In mathematics, physics, and chemistry classes, students are divided into groups based on their abilities — this allows teachers to adapt lessons to the needs of each class. The results speak for themselves: students place first every year at the pan-Greek mathematics olympiad and achieve excellent results in physics olympiads.

For senior students, the international DP program is available: it offers very broad opportunities for development:

  • courses across six subject groups: languages, sciences, mathematics, arts, and other disciplines,
  • interdisciplinary skills — the ability to apply knowledge from different fields to solve complex problems,
  • research work (Extended Essay) — students conduct independent research and write an extended essay,
  • the Theory of Knowledge course helps develop critical thinking and understand how knowledge is structured as a whole,
  • the CAS course: combines creativity, sport, and volunteering so that students grow as well-rounded individuals.

Kindergarten, preparatory stage and primary school

For enrollment, it is important that the child is ready for learning and emotionally mature. How the selection works:

  1. parents meet with the school psychologists together with the child,
  2. additional factors are taken into account: whether the candidate's siblings attend the school, whether the parents are graduates of the same school,
  3. the application submission date matters: it must be submitted no later than December 1 of the previous academic year.

The selection period for most levels is from November to February; for kindergarten — from March to April.

Intermediate, primary grades

Applications are accepted subject to available places. To be admitted, the child must:

  1. meet the average level of knowledge and skills for their grade,
  2. have a level of English proficiency required by the school.

Selection is based on written and oral exams and an interview. For grades E and F, knowledge of one of the following languages is additionally required: French, German, or Spanish.

Selection period: May, before the start of the academic year.

High School and the DP programme

Admission requirements:

  1. successful completion of exams,
  2. satisfactory grades from the previous school,
  3. proficiency in English, French, German, or Spanish at a high level.

For the international diploma programme, the following are additionally considered:

  1. grades from the secondary school period and from the first trimester,
